“I know others have said this before in earlier reviews, but the pictures and descriptions of The Moorings just do not do it justice. Where do I begin? I stayed at the Sunset apartment, one of the apartments where the view puts you directly facing the beach. Whether you choose this apartment or one facing Highway 1, you can’t go wrong -the property is literally on the beach. And the Fitts Village beach is so incredibly private and beautiful. It truly feels like your own. Location- wise, Fitts Village is a little town in the south part of St. James that is a five minute drive to Payne’s Bay and a few more minutes north to Holetown. We rented a car during our five day stay, and were able to get to any part of the island we wanted within 30-45 minutes from where we were. Conveniently located is an understatement. There’s also parking spaces on site which saves you the time and energy of having to find parking yourself. Staying with convenience, being right off of Highway 1 helped us navigate when using the physical map we had (we found it easier to go off that rather than screenshot directions on the Maps app through Wi-Fi) and so we honestly felt like we couldn’t have stayed at a better place. The apartment is well-styled and in it is everything you could ask for, down to coffee filters and a house phone to call locally. Marilil and Jodee were so kind and extremely accommodating - they made sure to reach out way beforehand to coordinate with our flight-details for check-in. My sister mistakenly left something at the airport, and Marilil contacted us immediately with detail and made it easy to speak to Customs and retrieve her belongings. Steve stopped by to check-in and say hi a few times, and I can honestly say you will never meet a nicer man. Though we didn’t get a chance to stop by his restaurant, it came highly recommended and we vowed to make it our first stop when we return for our next Barbados holiday.
